Police identify two Wichita men killed in hit-and-run crash in west Wichita

Wichita police have identified Jacob Fowler and Levi Ward, both 20, as the men who were killed in a hit-and-run incident over the weekend in west Wichita.

The incident happened around 2:50 a.m. on Saturday at 17th and Tyler. Fowler and Ward, both of Wichita, were northbound on Tyler Road on a 2004 Honda Shadow motorcycle, the Police Department said in a news release.

As the motorcycle was approaching 17th Street, a pickup entered the intersection. The motorcycle collided with the the truck, causing Fowler and Ward, who was the passenger, to fly off the motorcycle. They died from their injuries, the release said.

The truck, a 2011 Dodge Dakota, was driven by 23-year-old Collin Becker of Wichita, according to police. Becker initially fled the scene of the crash but returned a short time later and was arrested, according to the release.

Becker was booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on suspicion of two counts of felony hit and run, police spokesman Paul Cruz said in an email.

The investigation is ongoing and the case will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office.
