Two people found shot in Dillons parking lot in northwest Wichita, police say

Two people were found with gunshot wounds in the parking lot of a northwest Wichita Dillons store Thursday afternoon, according to police.

Firefighters started medical care and both people were taken to an area hospital. They were critically injured but alert and expected to survive.

The shooting was reported at 2:19 p.m. at the parking lot of the Dillons at 21st and Maize Road.

“The investigation so far shows that these two individuals were here in the parking lot contacting some other individuals, an altercation began between these groups of individuals,” Wichita Capt. Jason Cooley said. “Multiple gunshots began. Two individuals are still outstanding that we’re looking for in the neighborhood to the northeast of here.”

In the parking lot, police tape blocked off a car that had bullet holes in the driver’s side window and a shoe on the roof.
