Sheriff investigates after extensive damage to tombstones at Kansas cemetery

The Barton County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public for help after more than a dozen headstones and a fence were damaged at the Claflin Cemetery in Claflin.

The sheriff’s office says 14 headstones and the fence were damaged on Dec. 24 or 25, probably run over by a vehicle.

The damage is estimated to be several thousands of dollars, says the release.

Claflin Cemetery — also known as Pleasant View Cemetery — is located 19 miles northeast of Great Bend.
