The person arrested in connection with a man’s death outside of a west Wichita nightclub has been released from jail, officials said.

Christopher Parish, 34, of Wichita had been arrested on suspicion of involuntary manslaughter in the Dec. 1 killing. He was released from jail the next day, an official said this week.

“The cause of death in the incident at Maple and Tyler Road is undetermined,” Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office spokesperson Dan Dillon said in an email. “The case remains under investigation.”

When police responded to an assault call just before 2 a.m. Dec. 1, they found 50-year-old Stephen Long from Seguin, Texas, unresponsive in the parking lot of Blu nightclub, which is at the corner of Maple and Tyler.

Long was leaving the bar when he got into an argument in the parking lot, police said in a news release. He was shoved and fell backward, hitting his head. He died at the scene.

Parish was at the scene when officers arrived.
