Driver arrested after 4-year-old trick-or-treater is struck by car in College Hill
Wichita police have arrested the man they say was driving under the influence and struck a 4-year-old trick-or-treater in the College Hill neighborhood Sunday night.
Caleb Leivian. 23, was booked into the Sedgwick County jail Sunday on suspicion of aggravated battery, DUI causing great bodily harm, DUI 2nd conviction, no proof of insurance, and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to a police news release.
Police say the accident occurred around 9 p.m. The 4-year-old boy was taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Leivian was arrested on the scene after an investigation revealed signs of impairment, the release says.
The case will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office.
The Eagle reached out to the mother of the boy who was injured; she has not yet responded.
