Wichita Police Department announces promotions
The head of the Exploited and Missing Child Unit was promoted to captain Friday and will be assigned to the Wichita Police Department’s Records Bureau.
Chris Bannister has held several positions and ranks in his 20 years with the police department, including patrol officer, Special Community Action Team (SCAT) officer, detective and sergeant, according to a news release announcing his promotion.
Most recently, he served as a lieutenant and the commander of EMCU.
Bannister was among 12 Wichita police personnel promoted Friday by interim Police Chief Nelson Mosley.
Promoted to lieutenant were Travis Easter, Marlin Mattern and Travis Rakestraw.
Thomas Fatkin, Joseph Kennedy and Michael O’Brien were promoted to sergeant.
Brian Bachman, Keith Cox, Brandon Lenzi, Brian Mock and Derek Purcell are now detectives.
