Police: Teens arrested after trying to rob 73-year-old woman
Wichita police found and arrested two 13-year-old boys shortly after they robbed a 73-year-old woman near 1200 S. Pershing on Friday afternoon.
Sgt. Roger Runft said on Saturday that the woman was walking to her car at about 3:45 p.m. Friday when she was approached by two male teenagers “and demanded $100 from her.”
When she said she didn’t have it, one male grabbed her keys while the other grabbed at her clothing and her pants pockets, Runft said.
“They did take her iPhone cord, but they both ran off as she struggled to thwart the robbery,” he said.
Officers found the teens shortly after arriving.
“They were taken into custody and booked into juvenile detention,” he said.
