$4 million grant to help provide services for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault

Four Sedgwick County organizations that provide services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault are set to receive a share of $4 million in grant money.

Gov. Sam Brownback this week announced 25 organizations will receive funds under the 2015 Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Services grant program. The money comes from the state’s general fund and goes to organizations and programs that support services, outreach and training for victims and direct service providers.

A total of $4,069,577 was awarded, according to a news release from Brownback’s office.

Sedgwick County grant recipients and their amounts are:

▪ Catholic Charities, Harbor House, $147,353

▪ StepStone, $59,612

▪ Wichita Area Sexual Assault Center, $162,572

▪ YWCA of Wichita, $106,803

Organizations based in other counties:

▪ Barton - Family Crisis Center Inc., $165,308

▪ Butler - Family Life Center, $71,969

▪ Cowley - Safe Homes, $136,075

▪ Crawford - Safehouse Crisis Center, $190,937

▪ Douglas - GaDuGi SafeCenter, $53,501; The Willow Domestic Violence Center, $197,033

▪ Ellis - Options: Domestic & Sexual Violence Services, $164,405

▪ Finney - Family Crisis Services, $97,868

▪ Harvey - Harvey Co. Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Task Force, $116,373

▪ Johnson - Safehome, $277,295

▪ Leavenworth - Alliance Against Family Violence, $52,317

▪ Lyon - SOS, $182,140

▪ Reno - Sexual Assault/Domestic Violence Center, $127,937

▪ Riley - Crisis Center, $329,659

▪ Saline - Domestic Violence Association of Central Kansas, $284,953
