Search for suspect in Burger King robbery continues
Police are still looking for the armed man who robbed a Burger King and then fired shots toward the restaurant after he left Wednesday night.
The robbery occurred at about 9:45 p.m. in the 500 block of North Oliver, Lt. Joe Schroeder said. The suspect came in, pulled out a gun and demanded money from the register.
After the clerk complied, the robber left the store and headed west, Schroeder said. He then turned and fired numerous shots back toward the restaurant to frighten witnesses.
Officers found shell casings outside the building. No one was hurt, but investigators are still concerned about what happened, Schroeder said.
“Any time somebody fires off a firearm, that indicates a higher level of violence,” he said.
Even if the suspect is not intending to hit anyone, stray shots could still injure or kill.
