Armed man shot at Kwik Shop by Andover officer, officials say

A 46-year-old Dodge City man brandishing a gun was shot Saturday by an Andover police officer, according to a Kansas Bureau of Investigation spokesperson.

Police were called at around 3:20 p.m. about the armed man being outside of an Andover Kwik Shop near U.S. 54 and Andover Road. Officers arrived and started to talk with the man.

“After a verbal exchange, an Andover police officer shot the armed subject,” KBI spokesperson Nicole Hamm said in a news release. “The man then led multiple law enforcement agencies on a foot pursuit through several businesses in the area. The man was apprehended at Braum’s located at 401 S Andover Rd.”

The man was taken to Wesley Medical Center. He has serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
