Police impersonator pulled over a driver in Wichita, and he’s still out there, WPD says
The real police are looking for a police impersonator.
Officer Charley Davidson said in a news release that the Wichita Police Department is looking for the unknown person suspected of impersonating an officer. The case stems from an incident that happened at around 8 p.m. Monday, where someone pulled over a driver in the area of MacArthur and Seneca.
The impostor was driving a dark blue or black Buick four-door sedan. It had red and blue emergency lights in the upper windshield. He was of an average build and height, wore a dark blue or black uniform and was armed with a handgun.
After stopping the vehicle Monday evening, the impostor asked the driver for license and insurance. He looked at the documents, gave them back, then left.
“All uniformed WPD officers are issued WPD badges, displayed clearly on their uniform to signify that they are a WPD officer,” Davidson said. “Additionally, if any question exists on the legitimacy of an officer, you can call 911.”
Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.
