Man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after girl’s head held under water

A 19-year-old Wichita man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and aggravated kidnapping after a 17-year-old girl was battered, drug to a pond and then held under water, police said Tuesday.

Officer Charley Davidson said Dominic Thomas and the victim were talking near a pond near 37th North and Sullivan when a “disturbance occurred” and the assault happened. Police were called at around 10 p.m. on Monday to a home in the 3900 block of North Litchfield, near 37th.

They found the girl “visibly shaken and wet,” Davidson said.

Thomas was later arrested.
