Wichita SWAT standoff involves rape suspect who threatened officers, police chief says

A police standoff in southeast Wichita on Tuesday evening involved a rape suspect who threatened officers with a gun, the police chief said.

Police Chief Gordon Ramsay said in a tweet that negotiators were talking with the subject, who was armed and barricaded in an apartment complex near Harry and Webb. Ramsay said the suspect, who had a gun, threatened officers as they went to arrest him in connection with several sexual assaults and rape.
