Man who kidnapped and tried to kill the mother of his child arrested, Wichita police say
Wichita police have arrested a man suspected of kidnapping and trying to kill the mother of his child.
Christopher Allan Tucker, 39, of Wichita, was arrested Monday morning after an injured 38-year-old woman showed up at the Patrol West police station and reported a domestic violence incident, Officer Charley Davidson said in a news release.
Investigators determined that Tucker was hiding in the woman’s garage when she got home from work at around 5:15 p.m. Sunday. He allegedly got into her vehicle, strangled her and forced her to drive across the city.
Once at a home in the 600 block of South Elizabeth, near Kellogg and Seneca, Tucker bound the woman and refused to let her leave, police said. He cut her loose Monday morning, she escaped and she ran away.
The investigators also determined that Tucker and the woman have a 10-year-old son. While the woman had been awarded custody, Tucker had been hiding him, police said. The boy and Tucker were both found at a home in the 1700 block of West University, near Kellogg and Seneca.
Tucker was arrested and the boy was placed in his mother’s custody. The investigation is ongoing.
Tucker was booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on suspicion of attempted capital murder, three counts of aggravated kidnapping, aggravated assault, aggravated domestic battery, criminal threat, aggravated burglary, violation of a protection from abuse order, aggravated interference with parental custody and outstanding warrants.
