Updated 2:45 p.m. Aug. 18: Police want the public’s help tracking down a teal Ford F-150 whose driver may have information about Monday’s shooting death of Miguel Tapia. Police say the truck and driver were around the 600 block of South Armour when Tapia was shot about 7:30 a.m. Anyone who knows the whereabouts of the truck or driver is asked to call police investigators at 316-268-4407.

The truck’s driver is not considered a suspect in Tapia’s homicide, police said in a news release.

Original story: A 27-year-old Wichita man gunned down in southeast Wichita on Monday morning has died.

Police say the city’s latest homicide victim, Miguel Tapia, was found lying outside of a gray Nissan Pathfinder at around 7:30 a.m. in the 600 block of South Armour Drive, near Kellogg and Rock. Tapia was inside of the SUV when a fight broke out and he was shot. He was rushed to a Wichita hospital but died from his injuries, according to a news release.

Wichita police did not immediately release information about a possible motive for the shooting or give a suspect description. But the department did say investigators think Tapia was targeted.

The case remained under investigation Monday afternoon.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to submit tips to Wichita police detectives at 316-268-4407 or to one of the local crime tip lines.
