Wichita police ask for help identifying people for alleged crimes at protests
The Wichita Police Department is asking for the public’s help to identify people accused of committing crimes during recent protests.
Police posted photos of the people on Facebook on Wednesday. The individuals are wanted “on charges stemming from the ongoing investigations of illegal activity at demonstrations” July 30 and July 31, WPD officers said.
Charges include multiple counts of rioting, battery, vandalism, harassing contact and aggravated assault with a firearm.
People with information on the identities of the pictured individuals are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.
Wichita police previously arrested four people connected to downtown demonstrations. Police said the department “supports the rights of individuals to demonstrate lawfully.”
One of the protest organizers has called the arrests a “blatant scare tactic to try to keep the organizers of Project Justice ICT from marching in the streets.”
