Wichita man, 19, is city’s latest homicide victim after shooting early Saturday

Wichita police say a 19-year-old man was killed Saturday in the city’s latest homicide.

Officers responding to a shooting call in the 600 block of North Pinecrest shortly before 1 a.m. found Andreas Carlyle of Wichita lying in the street with fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene, near Central and Oliver.

“This was not a random incident, and investigators are currently working on learning all the circumstances of what occurred,” police spokesman Officer Charley Davidson said in an emailed news release.

Details about the shooter and the circumstances leading up to the killing were not released early Saturday afternoon.

The police department is asking the public to share any information they have about the crime. Tips can be left with Wichita police detectives at 316-268-4407, Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111 or the See Something, Say Something hotline at 316-519-2282.
