Standoff in rural Reno County after husband fired at deputies, official says

Officers in Reno County are negotiating with a barricaded person after he fired at deputies responding to a domestic dispute, the Reno County Sheriff’s Office said Saturday afternoon.

In a Facebook post, the sheriff’s office said the standoff is east of Hutchinson, in a single-family home out in the county.

“This is a continuation from a domestic dispute over night which started again this morning over the phone between a husband and wife,” the sheriff’s office says in the post. “While Deputies attempted to respond and speak with the male party, the male exited the residence. When he came out of the residence, he fired a weapon towards deputies. The responding deputies heard (the) bullet land next to their patrol unit.”

No one had been injured as of the post at 3:17 p.m.
