Wichita man whose illegal mushroom operation was found after he was shot pleads guilty

A 35-year-old man pleaded guilty Wednesday to growing hallucinogenic mushrooms in his south Wichita home, court records show.

Corey A. Logan pleaded guilty to manufacturing a controlled substance. In March 2018, police responded to a shooting at Logan’s home in the 1900 block of East Maywood, near 55th South and Hydraulic. Wichita police were called at 2:19 a.m. Logan had been shot by an “unknown assailant” and was taken to the hospital.

Police searched the home and found an indoor mushroom operation in a bedroom. Court documents say roughly 215 grams of mushrooms were found, which have a value of more than $2,000.

Sentencing is set for October 2 and Logan could face a penalty of up to 20 years in federal prison, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office District of Kansas.
