Police say an unknown gunman shot at a vehicle while it was in the eastbound lanes of Kellogg near Grove at around 12:30 a.m. on Monday. When officers arrived in the area in respond to an emergency call about the shooting, they found a 20-year-old man with several gunshot wounds. The attack left him with life-threatening injuries, police said.
A 21-year-old man who also was hurt sought treatment on his own at a local hospital sometime after the shooting. He also had several gunshot wounds to his body, but he is expected to survive, police said.
“Investigators are still trying to determine what led up to the shooting and are asking for the public’s help,” Officer Paul Cruz said by email.
Police say the city is seeing an increase in the number of shootings. Last year, 56 people had been shot through early July, compared to 104 this year.
