Wichita police identify man shot, killed early Monday

Police identified a man found dead Monday with a gunshot wound as 25-year-old Joshua Steele of Wichita.

Steele was found unresponsive in a driveway in the 6900 block of East Ayesbury Circle, near 21st and Woodlawn. Police were called at around 5:15 a.m. Steele was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The investigation revealed that Steele and his girlfriend were at the home of a friend on Ayesbury,” Officer Charley Davidson said in a news release. “Two males arrived at the home, and a disturbance ensued concerning property. During the disturbance, multiple shots were fired, striking Steele. The two suspects then fled the scene in a moving style truck.”

The death was the 26th homicide so far this year.
