Teen shot when multiple rounds fired near Keeper of the Plains, police say

A 19-year-old man was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after being shot in the parking lot just north of the Keeper of the Plains on Thursday morning, police said.

Police were called about the shooting at around 12:50 a.m. and found victim with gunshot wound to his body. Officer Charley Davidson said the man was in the parking lot with a friend when a disturbance occurred with another man, who pulled out a handgun and fired multiple shots that hit the victim and his friend’s vehicle.

“It was then reported that the suspect took property from the victim and fled with some other individuals that were in that area as well,” Davidson said, adding the shooting was not random.

Lt. Mike Linnehan told media at the scene that they were checking area surveillance video for tips.

“We are currently evaluating witness statements that we got from about a dozen or so people that were in the parking lot when this happened,” he said.

Anyone with information about the shooting can call detectives at 316-268-4407, See Something Say Something hotline at 316-519-2282 or Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.
