Three people in different motel rooms injured in shooting, Wichita police say

Three people staying in different rooms were shot at the Afton Motel on Tuesday morning, according to Wichita police.

Officers were called about a shooting at around 1 a.m. to the motel in the 800 block of South Broadway, near Kellogg. Police found people shot in three rooms. One caller said they heard “five or six shots,” according to emergency dispatch. In one of the rooms, police found a man with a gunshot wound in the “upper left thigh and through his pinky,” according to scanner traffic.

In a news release, Wichita police Officer Charley Davidson said two men, ages 26 and 60, and a 25-year-old woman all had non-life-threatening gunshot wounds and were taken to an area hospital.

“The investigation revealed the three victims heard shots being fired outside of the motel, and when they exited their rooms, they were shot,” Davidson said in the release. “Investigators are currently working to determine all the circumstances of what occurred in this incident.”

Anyone with information about the cases can call detectives at 316-268-4407, See Something Say Something hotline at 316-519-2282 or Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.
