Man sought in connection with western Kansas killing, officials say

Officers are looking for a 25-year-old Syracuse man after a fatal shooting Friday in Hamilton County, the Kansas Bureau of Investigation said Saturday in a news release.

Amner Y. Tejada-Vigil, also known as Jeovany Vijil, is being sought in connection with the killing of 21-year-old Kevin A. Palma-Rodriguez of Syracuse, the release said.

Before noon on Friday, the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office was called about a shooting and found Palma-Rodriguez inside an apartment with multiple gunshot wounds.

Palma-Rodriguez died at the scene.

Later, the KBI High Risk Warrant Team executed a search warrant at Tejada-Vigil’s apartment. Then, an arrest warrant for suspicion of first-degree murder was issued for Tejada-Vigil, the release said.

Tejada-Vigil has not been found.

Anyone with information about this case can call the KBI at 1-800-KS-CRIME, or the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office at 620-384-5616. Tips can also be submitted online at kbi.ks.gov/sar.
