Five people shot overnight at Wichita motel, officials say
Five people were shot after a “disturbance ensued” at a Wichita motel early Saturday morning, police said.
Officers were called to the Super 8 motel near 37th North and Rock Road at around 3 a.m. There, police found two men, ages 18 and 20, and a 65-year-old woman with gunshot wounds. They were taken to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
Two men, ages 19 and 24, later arrived at a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, officer Charley Davidson said in a news release.
“The investigation revealed a party was occurring in a room of the motel, and a disturbance ensued,” Davidson said in the release. “The disturbance continued outside, leading to multiple shots being fired, striking the five individuals. The 65-year-old was struck while in a room and was not part of the disturbance.”
Police found guns on the ground in the area, according to scanner traffic.
The shooting was not random, Davidson said.
