Wichita man receives probation in 2018 crash that killed two women
A 40-year-old Wichita man was sentenced to three years of probation Friday in connection to a 2018 crash that killed two women, according to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office.
Senior Judge Bob Fleming sentenced Tito Kyando to probation with an underlying sentence of 32 months in prison. In March, a jury found Kyando guilty of two counts of involuntary manslaughter, according to a news release from the DA’s office.
Police found Kyando was driving 88 mph in a 40 mph zone a couple of seconds before the crash, court documents show.
Uriel Salabao, 21 and Miyah Latney, 20, were both killed in the crash near 31st South and Turnpike Drive. The Wichita women were in a Ford Fiesta when Salabao went to turn left onto southbound Turnpike Drive. Kyando, who was driving a Chevrolet Trailblazer, hit the car on its passenger side.
