Wichita firefighter hit ‘multiple officers’ before being arrested, police say

A Wichita firefighter was arrested Friday morning on suspicion of six counts of battery of a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest, trespassing and disorderly conduct, officials said.

At around 1:50 a.m., officers noticed 28-year-old Troy Morris in a fight with an employee at an Old Town business in the 200 block of North Washington, officer Charley Davidson said in a news release.

“Officers contacted Morris, and he began battering multiple officers as they attempted to place him under arrest,” Davidson wrote. “He resisted arrest but was eventually placed into custody and booked into jail. Morris nor the officers were injured during the incident.”

Wichita spokesperson Megan Lovely said Morris works for the Wichita Fire Department.
