Cash drawer, mask and gun found in SUV as Wichita teen arrested, police said
An 18-year-old Wichita man was arrested in connection to a McDonald’s robbery after police found a cash drawer, mask and gun in the SUV he was in, officer Charley Davidson said.
Santiago Rafael Castillo was arrested on suspicion of aggravated robbery.
Davidson said officers were called at around 8:50 p.m. on Tuesday to an armed robbery of the McDonald’s at the northeast corner of Taft and West. A 17-year-old boy working at the restaurant said the robber, armed with a handgun, opened the drive-through window and demanded money. The employee obliged.
A police report says $898 was taken.
At 10:30 p.m., police spotted a white Ford Flex similar to what was reported as the getaway vehicle from the McDonald’s robbery, Davidson said. The SUV was spotted in the 400 block of North Knight — a little more than a mile from the robbery.
Castillo was arrested.
