Wichita men charged, accused of following teenagers and holding them at gunpoint
Two Wichita men have been charged after allegedly holding a group of teenagers at gunpoint.
Christopher Perry and Michael Morris were charged last week in Sedgwick County District Court with three felony counts of aggravated assault and three misdemeanor counts of criminal restraint.
Prosecutors allege they used a deadly weapon — a handgun — to unlawfully put three people “in reasonable apprehension of bodily harm.” They are also accused of illegally restraining the three people and interfering with their liberty. The incident happened on May 30.
Perry was arrested and has since been released from the Sedgwick County Jail. Morris has not been arrested, according to booking reports.
Wichita Police Department spokesman Officer Charley Davidson said officers were called at around 2 a.m. May 30 to a disturbance with a gun in the area of 33rd South and All Hallows. Investigators determined three teenagers — ages 18, 17 and 15 — were driving through the 3400 block of South All Hallows. Two men saw the teens and believe they had jumped a fence into a back yard of one of the men earlier in the evening.
The men followed the teenagers, and one of them pulled his truck in front of the car to stop it. One man then pointed a handgun at the teens and demanded identification, Davidson said.
Court records show that Perry, 44, lives in the 3400 block of South All Hallows.
