Speed and alcohol suspected in fatal motorcycle crash in south Wichita
A 21-year-old Wichita man riding a motorcycle was killed when he hit another vehicle Wednesday night in south Wichita.
Police found Gauge Fuqua, who had been riding a 1981 Honda motorcycle, in critical condition after responding to the crash at 8:25 p.m.. He was pronounced dead at the scene near 42nd South and Seneca. Officer Charley Davidson said Fuqua was headed south on Seneca when he collided with a Chrysler 300 driven by a 37-year-old woman, who was headed east on 42nd and turning north onto Seneca.
“Speed involving the motorcycle and alcohol involving the driver of the Chrysler are believed to be factors involved in this accident,” Davidson said.
The crash was the ninth fatal traffic accident of 2020 in Wichita, including three motorcycle deaths, Davidson said.
