Wanted man hits three vehicles, including police cruiser, during pursuit, police say

A 21-year-old wanted Wichita man led police on a vehicle chase where he hit three vehicles, including a police cruiser, before being arrested, the Wichita Police Department said.

Terrell Franklin Sanders was arrested on suspicion of two counts of hit and run and two counts of aggravated burglary as well as suspicion of robbery, domestic battery, simple battery, fleeing and eluding and traffic violations. He also had an outstanding warrant.

At around 1:55 p.m. Wednesday, officers were looking for Sanders in connection to an aggravated burglary and robbery from late March, officer Charley Davidson said in a news release.

Officers spotted Sanders getting into the driver’s seat of a Dodge Ram 1500 at apartments in the 3500 block of North Inwood near K-96 and Rock. Davidson said police tried to stop Sanders when he accelerated and hit a police vehicle, causing minor damage.

The driver sped off.

During a chase, Sanders hit two vehicles near 30th and Woodlawn, Davidson said. Neither driver was hurt during the collision.

Sanders drove off before running from the truck in the 2000 block of North Woodlawn near 21st, Davidson said. Sanders was arrested shortly after.

A passenger in the truck, 18-year-old Darius Washington of Wichita, was arrested on suspicion of possession of marijuana.

Sanders has previously been arrested and convicted on a charge of criminal possession of a weapon, Davidson said.
