Four children were inside the home during standoff where a shot was fired, police say
A standoff ended peacefully Saturday morning at an east Wichita home where four children were inside, Officer Kevin Wheeler said in a news release.
Porche Wilson was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault and criminal use of weapons. At 4:39 a.m., police were called to a home in the 800 block of South Mission, near Lincoln and Woodlawn, about a disturbance with a weapon, according to a dispatcher.
A 32-year-old woman called police and reported that she ran from the home with her 10-year-old daughter after a disturbance in the home that led to Wilson firing a gun, Wheeler said.
SWAT and negotiators were able to get the 28-year-old woman to surrender peacefully, Wheeler said.
Besides Wilson, two men and four children were inside the home: two 10-year-old boys, a 4-year-old boy and a 2-year-old girl, Wheeler said.
