Police asking for tips after man shot in south Wichita during dating app meet-up

Police are asking for information about a shooting Thursday night after two men rendezvoused with two women they met on a dating app, officer Charley Davidson said in a news release.

The two men, both 25, went to meet the women in the area of the 3800 block of East Ross Parkway, near Planeview Park in south Wichita, to “engage in drug activity,” Davidson said. Two officers were patrolling the area at around 9:50 p.m. when they heard shots being fired and were alerted by dispatch of the location. Police found blood and a shell casing, Davidson said.

The victim was later found at a business at 31st and Hillside after he and his friend drove to the business following the shooting. The victim was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The victim was shot while standing outside of his vehicle on East Ross Parkway, Davidson said. The shooter approached the victim, pushed him and then fired a shot before taking off, Davidson said.

Anyone with information about the case can call detectives at 316-268-4407 or Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.
