Police asking for help after wounded driver loses consciousness and hits vehicles

Police are asking for the public’s help in a Saturday shooting where a 41-year-old man with a gunshot wound lost consciousness while driving and collided with two vehicles at Harry and Rock, officer Charley Davidson said Tuesday.

Scanner traffic from Saturday indicated a shooting happened at a tire shop at Harry and Poplar. In an email, Davidson said officers were called to a business in the 2500 block of East Harry at 4:40 p.m.

Shortly after, a three-vehicle wreck was reported at Harry and Rock.

Police determined a 41-year-old man, driving a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado, drove to a business parking lot on East Harry and got into an argument with an unknown man, who pulled out a gun and started shooting. The 41-year-old, who was hit in his body, started shooting back before getting in the Silverado and taking off.

He lost consciousness while driving and hit two other vehicles, Davidson said. The man was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The occupants of the other vehicles were not injured, Davidson said.

“This was not a random incident,” Davidson said. “A lack of all cooperation in this investigation has affected investigators from learning all the details of this case.”

Anyone with information on the case can call detectives at 316-268-4407 or Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.
