Spike strip used to stop stolen van driven by 14-year-old Wichita boy

A 14-year-old Wichita boy was arrested after a chase in a stolen van ended Monday morning when officers used a spike strip, Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Tim Myers said.

The chase started at 3:53 a.m. in the 2400 block of West MacArthur, near Meridian. The driver was speeding and crossing into other lanes, Myers said.

The Dodge Caravan was reported stolen out of Wichita, Myers said.

A short pursuit ended after the vehicle hit a spike strip, Myers said. The 14-year-old was arrested and two passengers ran on foot, Myers said.
