Teen bitten by police dog, arrested after SWAT team executes search warrant

A 17-year-old Wichita boy was bitten by a police dog at the end of a standoff at his southwest Wichita home, police said.

The teenager was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia as well as obstruction. At around midnight Wednesday, the Wichita Police Department Special Weapons and Tactics team executed a search warrant at a home in the 3900 block of West 31st Street South, near West.

The search warrant was based on an investigation of drugs, guns and a teenager living at the home, police said.

The teen at first refused to come out of the home. He was eventually arrested and taken to an area hospital to treat the minor injuries he received from being bitten by the dog.

“Inside the home, officers recovered multiple handguns, a rifle, gun parts, gun magazines, ammunition, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and cash,” officer Charley Davidson said in a news release.
