South Wichita house party ends with shooting and teen grazed by bullet, police say

A 17-year-old girl was grazed by a bullet after the car she was in was shot at early Saturday morning in south Wichita, police said.

Officers were called at 4:53 a.m. about a shooting at an apartment in the 900 block of West 29th Street South, near 27th and Seneca.

The girl, an 18-year-old man and third person were at a house party in the 1200 block of west 30th Street South — less than a half-mile from the shooting call — when an altercation occurred and the three left in a Ford Focus. That’s when the unknown shooter fired multiple shots that hit the vehicle and injured the girl, officer Charley Davidson said in a news release.

She was taken to the hospital, treated and released.

Davidson said witnesses are not cooperating.

Anyone with information about the shooting can call detectives at 316-268-4407 or Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.
