Convicted Wichita child abuser sentenced; not eligible for parole until he’s 120

A 38-year-old Wichita man won’t be eligible for parole for 82 years after being sentenced Wednesday in connection to sexually assaulting and beating several children, the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office said Thursday.

In February, a jury found Eric McFadden guilty of two counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child, one count of rape and five counts of abuse of a child, the Attorney’s Office said in a news release. McFadden was first arrested in April 2018 after a 13-year-old boy walked to the Wichita Police Department Patrol North Substation, near 21st and Hillside, to report that he and his siblings had been abused.

The boy was the oldest of nine children taken into protective custody.

“Police later discovered McFadden sexually abused two of the young girls in the family and beat them all with belts and extension cords if they took his snacks or ‘acted up,”’ the release said.

District Judge Eric Williams sentenced McFadden to three consecutive life sentences plus 86 months.
