Teen in stolen SUV crashes into house after leading cops on chase, police say

A 16-year-old Wichita boy was arrested Thursday after leading police on a chase and crashing a stolen SUV into a home, officer Charley Davidson said.

The teenager was arrested on suspicion of auto theft, flee and elude and running a stop sign, records show. Davidson said the teen also had a warrant for his arrest.

At around 6 a.m. Thursday, a 24-year-old woman reported her 2003 Honda CRV was stolen from a home in the 8400 block of East Harry sometime between Wednesday night and Thursday morning, Davidson said. At around 9:30 a.m., officers spotted the vehicle and tried to make a stop near Ellis and Boston, which is near Harry and Hydraulic.

The driver took off and hit a curb, utility pole and finally a home in the 1500 block of East Ellis, Davidson said.
