Man dies after being shot in apartment parking lot in west Wichita

Updated at 5:29 p.m. - A man was shot Wednesday morning in the parking lot of an apartment complex near Central and Ridge and later died at a hospital, police said.

Officers found 35-year-old Laramie Miller of Wichita with a gunshot wound to his upper body after a woman called at around 5:40 a.m. to the apartments at 7101 W. Shade. Wichita police Capt. Wendell Nicholson said the woman reported hearing a single gunshot, looking out her window and seeing Miller on the ground.

“We know he didn’t live in that apartment complex,” Nicholson said.

Nicholson said there have been a lot of vehicle break-ins recently at Spring Ridge Village apartment complex and police are looking at all angles. No one is in custody, he said.
