No arrest made in call where a shot was fired when Kansas officers entered home
No one has been arrested after a shot was fired inside a home where officers were responding to a call Friday afternoon, Hutchinson Sgt. Nic Smith said on Saturday afternoon.
Officers were called at 1:32 p.m. Friday to the 2600 block of East Second, in east Hutchinson, about a person making suicidal comments who had shot a gun inside the home. Arriving officers went inside the home when a round was fired. Officers retreated.
Smith said it is unclear if the shot was directed at officers.
“Negotiations were established with the resident of the home and approximately two hours later the subject surrender (sic) peacefully. … This male was taken to an area hospital to be evaluated and the name of the subject will not be released at this time,” the Hutchinson Police Department said in a news release.
No injuries were reported. Smith said it’s department policy not to release additional information on concern for welfare calls, which include suicidal calls.
