Wichita man dies after showing up at hospital with gunshot wound, police say
Police are investigating the death of a 21-year-old Wichita man who showed up at Ascension Via Christi St. Joseph on Sunday night with a gunshot wound.
At around 6:50 p.m. on Sunday, Israel Norwood was taken to the hospital in a 2007 Chevrolet Impala, said Wichita police Lt. Christian Cory. Norwood had “a gunshot wound to his body,” Cory said, and he later died.
Police did not give any further details about Norwood’s death at their regular briefing for media Tuesday.
Two of Norwood’s brothers, ages 18 and 17, were also in the Impala at the hospital. The 18-year-old ran on foot and was found by officers nearby, police said.
“Both brothers and other family members have been uncooperative up until this point of the investigation and the investigation has been stalled,” Cory said.
