Kansas man stuck gun in partner’s face after KC Chiefs won the Super Bowl, police say

A Garden City man became angry after the Super Bowl, battered his partner and stuck a gun in her face while threatening to kill her, the Garden City police said.

Keith Hicks, 24, was arrested on suspicion of aggravated kidnapping, aggravated assault, criminal threat and endangering a child, police said. He is being held in the Finney County Jail in lieu of a $160,000 bond.

Police said a child was present during the incident.

Sgt. Lana Urteaga said the game played a factor in the domestic violence call. Urteaga said the woman was cheering for the San Francisco 49ers, who lost 31-20 to the Kansas City Chiefs, and an argument “reached a point of escalation at the end of the game.”

Police were called to a home in east Garden City at around 10 p.m. Sunday, after the Super Bowl ended. The victim called police and said “the man was trying to kill her and had a shotgun pointed at her face.”
