Two women battered, one of them carjacked at Towne East Square
Two women were battered about an hour apart, and one of them was robbed of her car, on Monday outside Towne East Square, Wichita police said.
“It’s believed these cases may be related,” Officer Charley Davidson said.
At around 7:15 p.m., a 74-year-old woman reported leaving Von Maur when she was approached by two people. One of them asked to use her cell phone. When she refused, she was hit, police said. The woman had minor injuries and the two people ran away.
The second incident happened at around 8:15 p.m. A 57-year-old JCPenney employee told police she was leaving work when two teenage boys approached her, demanded her keys then hit her. She had minor injuries. The teens got into her silver, 2003 Buick Park Avenue and drove off, police said. The license plate on the car is 410JGS.
