KBI investigating shooting involving Kansas law enforcement officer after highway chase

State investigators are on the scene of a shooting involving a law enforcement officer in western Kansas.

Kansas Bureau of Investigation spokeswoman Melissa Underwood said “an officer involved shooting took place this morning in Rush County.” The shooting happened along K-96 near Rush Center following a vehicle pursuit by the Ness County Sheriff’s Office.

No law enforcement officers were hurt, Underwood said, but one male subject was taken to a hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries. His condition was not available.

Underwood said additional information will be released later.
