Wichita man arrested on sex trafficking charges
The owner of a Wichita business has been arrested on suspicion of sex trafficking a minor.
Scott Bonnie Truett, 56, was arrested Monday on charges of aggravated human trafficking and two counts of commercial sexual exploitation of a child. He remained jailed Tuesday in lieu of a $50,000 bond. Truett was arrested in connection with an incident that happened at his west Wichita home. Scott Truett owns the home and is the same person who owns Truett Roofing, 210 S. Pattie, according to the Sedgwick County Register of Deeds office.
Multiple calls to the business were not answered and the business appeared to be closed on Tuesday. The business’ website says Scott Truett started the company in 1989 after being a roofing apprentice under his father for more than 10 years.
The Wichita Police Department said Truett’s arrest came from the investigation of a Wichita runaway, who was found earlier in December.
“After speaking with the juvenile, detectives learned that the arrestee, Scott Truett, had been in contact with the juvenile on multiple occasions,” Officer Kevin Wheeler said. “Through the information developed during the investigation, Truett was arrested for aggravated human trafficking and two counts of commercial sexual exploitation of a child.”
