Speedy Cash robbers leave in hurry with nothing

The Wichita Eagle

A 20-year-old Wichita man was arrested Wednesday after an attempted robbery the day before where two people set off the alarm of a northeast Wichita business while holding its employees at knife point, the Wichita Police Department said.

Police are looking for the second suspect.

Chase Harrison Scott was arrested at his home about 2.5 miles away from the Speedy Cash near 21st and Woodlawn that police say he attempted to rob. Scott was booked at Sedgwick County Jail on suspicion of attempted aggravated kidnapping, two counts of aggravated kidnapping and on an unrelated traffic violation.

Officer Kevin Wheeler said police responded to the business alarm at around 8:30 p.m. after the suspects approached two female employees leaving the store. The suspects, Wheeler said, pushed the woman back inside the business. One was armed with a knife.

“The business alarm sounded, and both suspects fled from the business on foot,” Wheeler wrote in an email. “There was no loss from the business, and the employees sustained minor injuries.”
