A 28-year-old Wichita man was arrested Thursday night in connection to a shooting earlier in the day that left a 33-year-old man with a non-fatal gunshot wound, according to the Wichita Police Department.

Christopher Nicholas Cox was arrested under suspicious of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, criminal possession of a firearm, interference and aggravated arson with a bond set at $75,000, according to jail records. Officer Paul Cruz said Cox tried to burn evidence from the crime, which happened around 5:30 p.m. at a home in the 2100 block of West Grant.

Cox was arrested at around 8:45 p.m., Cruz said. Jail records show Cox was arrested in the 1100 block of E. 71st, in Haysville.

Cruz did not say what led to the shooting but did say the two men knew each other.
