Truck driver leads officers on chase through south Wichita

Kansas Highway Patrol officers were looking for a suspect Wednesday night after he bailed out of a vehicle near 41st and Seneca, a patrol dispatcher said.

Officers began to chase a 1995 Dodge Dakota pickup at 63rd and Meridian at around 9:45 p.m. after they discovered the truck had been reported stolen, the dispatcher said.

The truck’s driver then led officers on a chase up Meridian and west on 47th Street, driving through neighborhood streets such as Laclede and West 45th.

Wichita police units and Sedgwick County sheriff’s units assisted the patrol in the chase, a Sedgwick County emergency dispatcher said.

The suspect drove into a field near the Southlake Village apartment complex near 41st and Seneca and ran, according to the dispatcher.

As of 10:30 p.m., officers had not located the driver yet.
