One man died Wednesday in an early-morning crash on a Kansas highway.

The Cowley County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a crash on US 160 on the eastern edge of Winfield at 6:48 a.m. Wednesday, Sheriff David Falletti said in a news release.

An investigation found a white 2016 Dodge Caravan owned by Best Cabs Inc. of Wichita was going east on US 160 when it crossed the center line and hit a red 2002 Chevy Cavalier that was traveling west, the release says.

The driver of the Chevy was killed in the crash. He was identified by the sheriff’s office as 39-year-old Joshua Mosqueda of Cowley County. The driver of the taxi, James Johnson, 54, of Wichita, was taken to the hospital and treated for unknown injuries, the release says.

Both drivers were taken to William Newton Hospital in Winfield.
